Pat McDonnell (born 18 March 1950) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Aghabullogue, County Cork, attended secondary school at Presentation Brothers College, Cork. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of eighteen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team before later joining the under-21 and intermediate sides. He made his senior debut during the 1969–70. McDonnell immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won two All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals and two National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion.

Throughout his career McDonnell made 20 championship appearances. His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1978 championship. In retirement from playing McDonnell became involved in team management and coaching. He had All-Ireland successes as a selector with the Cork under-21 and senior teams while he also served as a selector and coach with various Inniscarra teams. (en)
