- OMA LWM2M (acrònim anglès de Open Mobil Alliance LightWeight Machine to Machine) és un protocol obert i de baixa complexitat per a la gestió de dispositius IoT o M2M. Defineix la capa d'aplicació en un model client/servidor : un servidor LwM2M i un client LwM2M que està incrustat en un dispositiu LwM2M. Aquests dispositius LwM2M es caracteritzen per tenir pocs recursos de maquinari i per tant estan obligats a comunicar-se amb protocols senzills com el LwM2M. - OMA Lightweight M2M (LwM2M) est un protocole de communication IoT standardisé par l'Open Mobile Alliance pour le machine to machine (M2M) et l'Internet des objets (IoT) permettant à la fois la standardisation du format de sortie des données et des actions de device management. Le standard LwM2M définit le protocole de communication de la couche application entre un serveur LwM2M et un client LwM2M situé dans un objet IoT. LwM2M simplifie la gestion des objets IoT et permet aux objets de différents fournisseurs de coexister dans un écosystème IoT. À l'origine, LwM2M reposait sur le protocole CoAP (Constrained Application Protocol), mais les versions ultérieures de LwM2M prennent également en charge d'autres protocoles de transfert. Les fonctionnalités de LwM2M comprennent le provisionning à distance des informations d'identification de sécurité (bootstrap), les mises à jour de micrologiciels à distance (FOTA), la gestion de la connectivité (par exemple, pour le cellulaire et le WiFi), le diagnostic et le dépannage à distance des appareils. En combinaison avec le protocole LwM2M, le modèle de données LwM2M permet d'uniformiser les formats des données collectées grâce à des "objets LwM2M" prédéfinis et identiques pour tous les fabricants d'objets. - OMA Lightweight M2M (LwM2M) is a protocol from the Open Mobile Alliance for machine to machine (M2M) or Internet of things (IoT) device management and service enablement. The LwM2M standard defines the application layer communication protocol between an LwM2M Server and an LwM2M Client which is located in an IoT device. It offers an approach for managing IoT devices and allows devices and systems from different vendors to co-exist in an IoT- ecosystem. LwM2M was originally built on Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) but later LwM2M versions also support additional transfer protocols. LwM2M's device management capabilities include remote provisioning of security credentials, firmware updates, connectivity management (e.g. for cellular and WiFi), remote device diagnostics and troubleshooting. LwM2M's service enablement capabilities include sensor and meter readings, remote actuation and configuration of host devices. In combination with the LwM2M protocol, the LwM2M data model LwM2M Objects supports the various LwM2M use cases.
