- Als Jocs Olímpics d'Hivern de 2010 celebrats a la ciutat de Vancouver (Canadà) es disputà una prova de luge en categoria individual femenina que formà part del programa oficial dels Jocs. La competició tingué lloc entre els dies 15 i 16 de febrer de 2010 a les instal·lacions esportives del . Participaren un total de 29 corredores de 13 comitès nacionals diferents. Degut a la mort de Nodar Kumaritashvili el 12 de febrer durant la sessió d'entrenaments abans d'iniciar la competició oficial es decidí escurçar el recorregut de la pista per tal de disminuir la velocitat punta dels corredors. - The women's luge at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada took place on 15–16 February at the Whistler Sliding Centre in Whistler, British Columbia. Germany's Sylke Otto was the two-time defending Olympic champion. Otto retired midway through the 2006-07 season in January 2007 to pregnancy and after suffering a crash at the track in Königssee, Germany. Erin Hamlin of the United States was the defending world champion. The test event that took place at the venue was won by Germany's Natalie Geisenberger. The last World Cup event prior to the 2010 games took place in Cesana, Italy on 31 January 2010 and was won by Geisenberger. Geisenberger's teammate Tatjana Hüfner, the defending Olympic bronze medalist, won the overall World Cup for 2009-10 season in women's singles. (en)

Вообще за последние 8 зимних Олимпиад Австрия и Германия (ГДР) отдали в этом виде программы всего лишь 1 медаль из 24 разыгранных — в 1994 году в Лиллехаммере золото выиграла итальянка Герда Вайссенштайнер.
