Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Thanks for uploading File:UCS Carvi.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:UCS Carvi.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

File:Reitoria IFRS.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Copyright violations
[edit]
Hello GabrielStella.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |
All of the images you have uploaded have been deleted or will be deleted because they are copyright violations and are not "own work" as you have claimed. As it says above, if you do not stop uploading copyright violations, you will be blocked from editing on Commons.. Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 14:28, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use
- free distribution
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.Yours sincerely, Alan (talk) 16:53, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

[edit]You amalgamated files from TAM and LAN into LATAM, but they should actually remain separated (but linked). I have separated them out again in line with Commons practice. It is not handled the same as Wikipedia, the airlines should remain separate so that the files can be accessed easily. Also reinstated LAN Express, LAN Cargo, LAN Peru, LAN Ecuador and LAN Colombia. Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open!
[edit]You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.
Dear GabrielStella,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.
In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.
Thanks,
--Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee 08:42, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

File:Logo GaúchaZH.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Thanks for uploading File:2018 Brazil blackout.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

- @Jcb: Can you please look into this? File:Logo GaúchaZH.png is obviously PD-text, but it was deleted as copyvio. Looking at the recent uploads by Gabriel Stella, the 1 year block seems quite excessive. Gabriel Stella, can you please explain where you've got those maps from?-- Darwin Ahoy! 20:25, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose unblock User uploaded multiple copyvio and has been doing so for years despite warnings. They also removed problem tags for several of their uploads. If a log term offender uploads a series of copyvio again, most admins do not really care whether there may be some files below TOO between them and just flush everything. The previous block by a different admin for the same offense was 3 months, which was apparently insufficient to educate this user. So unblocking them anywhere soon seems unhelpful to me. Jcb (talk) 22:51, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
- It seems to me unethical for an administrator to exclude all my uploads for copyright violation, and it has been assessed here by other administrators that they are able to remain on the Commons in accordance with current legislation. None of my recent uploads warrant a one-year lockout. GabrielStella (talk) 23:01, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
- Some of your previous uploading behavior warranted an even longer block from June 2014 to November 2015 per your block log. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 23:10, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Jcb and Jeff G.: It's mostly old stuff, the kid has been learning the ropes. He's a user in good standing at wiki.pt, I can help him here, if he remains unblocked - and Érico said he will do that as well. Would you still object to unblocking him?-- Darwin Ahoy! 19:33, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I still oppose unblocking. User has been blocked twices for a long time previously and uploaded many copyvios after their last block anyway. It's our standard practice to escalate the block length in such cases. Jcb (talk) 21:45, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

- GabrielStella: You've uploaded a number of unfree logos which are not just text and simple geometrical shapes, those were obvious copyvios. There is also this file: File:Centro Empresarial BG.jpg, which I've restored temporarily. Can you prove this photo was taken by you? Thanks, -- Darwin Ahoy! 20:32, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
- @DarwIn: , the files "File:Centro Empresarial BG.jpg"; "File:Arena do Grêmio (panorama).jpg"; "File:Brasil vs Equador (2017).jpg"; "File:Letreiro Arena do Grêmio.jpg"; are own photos, taken with the smartphone, but I don't know how to prove it, could you help me? The maps are derived from other Commons files, quoted in the file itself, edited using Inkscape. GabrielStella (talk) 20:51, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
GabrielStella (talk) 23:01, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
- You can post links to the correct licenses and justifications here. You can also send the original photos via OTRS. — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 19:50, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

@Jcb: Those files you marked are OK, but Gabriel Stella can't put the license while he's still blocked here.-- Darwin Ahoy! 23:06, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

- @Jeff G.: The 3 images sent to the OTRS were undoubtedly Gabriel's own work. They were uploaded at Commons just hours after being taken at the stadium with his cell phone (this info was already on the EXIF of the uploaded files).
- @GabrielStella: Do you still have the original for File:Centro Empresarial BG.jpg ?-- Darwin Ahoy! 16:57, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- @DarwIn: , não, esse eu apaguei do celular. Mas não tem problema, posso tirar outra foto sem problemas. GabrielStella (talk) 19:29, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
