The Trial of the Ancients is the final side quest that needs to be completed in order to unlock the character Monk Maz Koshia.
This can be unlocked once the side quests, The Trial of Stones, The Trial of the Mighty Foe, and The Trial of Monsters are completed. Once those are completed, this side quest will appear in the Gerudo Desert.
The Trial of Ancients represents a stage similar to a Shrine. The player will need to defeat Monk Maz Koshia in within 3 minutes.
If completed on the first try, the character will get 1 Ethereal Stone, 2 Star Fragments, 1 Diamond, and a random weapon, along with unlocking Monk Maz Koshia. If completed with more than one try, the character will still earn Monk Maz Koshia as a character.
