Akkala,(BotW | HWAoC)[1][2] also known as the Akkala Region,(BotW)[3] is a recurring Region in The Legend of Zelda series.[note 1]
Features and Overview[]
Breath of the Wild[]
The Akkala region is a rather large highlands region located in north-east Hyrule Kingdom, home of the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. Akkala is said to be the place where Hyrule Kingdom fell during the Great Calamity.[4][5]
Akkala Highlands[]
The Akkala Highlands make up the southern portion of Akkala.
Akkala Sea[]
The Akkala Sea makes up the east and northmost points of Akkala.
Deep Akkala[]
Deep Akkala makes up the northern portion of Akkala.
Other Appearances[]
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity[]
Trivia[]
There is a rumour that there is a special version of the game Rock paper scissors only played in Akkala.[6] This hearsay appears to have spread to the Gorons of Eldin.[7]
Akkala, together with Death Mountain, comprise the region known as Lesser Hyrule where the kingdom itself, then a rump-state, was relocated to in the Fallen timeline following the destruction of the original Hyrule Castle. In Ocarina of Time, it would correspond to an unseen area to the north-northeast of Castle Town. The first Legend of Zelda Game, A Link to the Past, and A Link Between Worlds, all take place almost entirely within Akkala and on Death Mountain. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link also partly takes place here but most of its content is farther to the north, past Tu Ka'loh Shrine.

Notes
- ↑ Akkala was referred to as Altum in the Overworld map from the Master Edition of Breath of the Wild.[citation needed] However, as this contradicts the name given in Breath of the Wild, it is not considered Canon.
