The Witch-Hunting Brigade is the group of heroes dedicated to saving the kingdom of Hytopia in Tri Force Heroes.[1]
Overview[]
Prior to the events of Tri Force Heroes, King Tuft created the Witch-Hunting Brigade after his daughter, Princess Styla, opened a cursed package from the witch of the Drablands, Lady Maud. As a result, Hytopia and its people fell into despair from the fear of being fashionable.[2] The King placed a Sign at the village's entrance in hopes of finding heroes to fulfill the roles of the legendary Tri Force Heroes and save Hytopia from its predicament.[3]
The commander of the Brigade, Sir Combsly,[1] meets with prospective heroes inside Hytopia Castle. Having seen many insufficient heroes already, Sir Combsly is immediately impressed by Link's heroic Attributes and enlists him in the Brigade,[4] providing him with the Materials needed to tailor a Hero's Tunic. He then informs Link of the Brigade's unbreakable rules; namely, that the Drablands are too dangerous to visit alone, and that the young hero must be matched with other Links in Multiplayer, or make use of Doppels in order to set out on his adventure.[5]
Madame Couture is implied to be a member of the Witch-Hunting Brigade, through her willingness to create powerful Outfits for the Brigade's heroes,[6] and her close communication with Sir Combsly.[7][8] She initially doubts that Link could be the fated hero due to his poor fashion sense,[9] and even believes that his pointed ears (a noble attribute of the Tri Force Heroes) are fake.[10] After conferring with Sir Combsly about Link's exploits in the Drablands, she changes her mind about the young hero.[11] Madame Couture reveals her true relation to Lady Maud and her plan to rescue Princess Styla without harming The Lady, by crafting the ultimate Outfit, the Lady's Ensemble.[12] This turns out to be impossible, as Link must defeat Lady Maud in order to procure the necessary Lady's Materials.
