Tulin is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[4][5] The son of Rito Elder Teba and his wife Saki, Tulin first appears in Breath of the Wild in a minor role. In Tears of the Kingdom, Tulin, having emerged as a warrior under his father's guidance, plays a crucial role in the story, awakening as the new Sage of Wind after agreeing to wield his ancestor's Secret Stone.

Personality[]

Ever since he was a fledgling, he idolized both his father and Revali. He aspired to become strong warriors. As he grew older, he became more arrogant and harbored a strong desire to prove his worth to his father.

Biography[]

Breath of the Wild[]

Tulin is found in his home in Rito Village with his mother Saki. He says good day to Link and says good response if the Hylian responds likewise.[6] Tulin goes on to say that his dad says, "Great kids are great greeters."[7] His father had promised that he would play with him later at the Flight Range.[8] When asked about the Flight Range, Tulin points Link in the direction it is located and states that he hopes his dad comes back soon, as he wants to go play there.[9]

After Link has met Teba and talks to Tulin, the Rito child recognizes Link and repeats his father's promise to play with him at the Flight Range.[10] Once the Divine Beast Vah Medoh has been appeased, Tulin greets Link and says his dad finally came back from work.[11] He is concerned because his father got hurt, but is excited since he has gotten better and will be able to take him flying again soon.[12] Tulin invites Link to come back later and play with him.[13]

Eventually Teba is healed enough to where he can take Tulin to the Flight Range.[14] Tulin shouts happily[2] and tells Link to come play with them at the Flight Range sometime.[15] Tulin rides on his father's back to the Flight Range. Teba says bringing Tulin to the Range will help him come of age as a warrior, but his mother Saki disagrees as he is still a fledgling.[16] Tulin stands on a platform at the Flight Range and greets Link happily by his name, stating his father told him about the hero and that he is good with a Bow, asking if that is true.[17] If Link answers of course, Tulin is amazed and say he has to show him.[18] If Link answers that he is alright, Tulin says his father said Link was great and his dad never lies so it must be true.[19] Tulin says he will count down and Link will break all the targets before time is up.[20] When a large amount is broken, he will give Link a prize.[21] Tulin is let down if Link turns away the offer.[22] If Link agrees, Tulin begins the countdown and watches Link's progress.[23] When Link succeeds, Tulin says he knew he could do it and that he will remember the way Link shoots when he practices.[24] Tulin then gives Link a Silver Rupee as a thank you from his dad and says to come back again to show him his neat tricks anytime.[25][26]

Several years after the events of Breath of the Wild, a visibly older Tulin has grown into a skilled archer just like his father, while Teba became the new chief of the Rito. When the Upheaval happened, Ganondorf created four monstrosities to keep the descendants of the sages (one of them being Tulin) from finding their ancestors' secret stones. One of these monstrosities was Colgera, which created a blizzard which the Rito suffered from. Eventually, Link would come to the village to see it suffering from said blizzard, to meet Tulin and his parents, who told him about a song that was sung to young hatchlings of the tribe. After that, Link came looking for Tulin to find that he lost his bow to an Aerocuda, with Tulin's ability to blow a gust of wind from his training, Link was able to get his bow back, and after fighting with an ambush, Harth came looking for them. Tulin realized that by working on his own, he realized he hadn't fully matured, and sees why it is best to work with others than on your own.

After finding the Stormwind Ark inside the massive cloud, Link and Tulin investigate. When they find "Zelda" they realized the source of the blizzard was in the center of the temple, and they had to get it open. After activating the locks, the center opened, only to find Colgera was ready to attack, but Link and Tulin were able to strike down the monster, and gain a secret stone. Once Tulin touched it, it made them see the Rito sage, who was the ancestor of both Tulin and Teba. He explains that he too was given a sacred stone by Rauru and fought by him and the other sages against Ganon. It wasn't enough, however, and Rauru sacrificed himself to seal him away. After that, Zelda told him that Ganon was coming back and the only one who could defeat him was Link, but he needed the Rito's mastery of the wind, to which he agreed to the cause.

After that, Tulin accepted his stone and became the new Sage of Wind, and he could create an avatar which he gave to Link, showing that he will always fight by his side no matter what. When they came back his father was so proud of how he grew, to the point of passing down his bow to Tulin.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity[]

In the Scenario EX Searching Hyrule Forest, as part of the Guardian of Remembrance DLC, it had turned out Tulin had inadvertently followed Teba into the past, and was separated during the chaos. This caused Tulin's father to worry immensely, and he pleaded to Revali to help find his son.

Tulin was eventually found in a monster-infested neck of Korok Forest, though the Koroks had been taking care of the Rito fledgling until Teba and Revali arrived. Tulin instructed the adults on where to go thanks to being taught directions from the Koroks, with the protection of a Rito Captain to assist the Rito Champions on their way out.

Once truly out of harm's way, Tulin, guided by Teba,[27][28] thanked Revali for saving his life.[29] Upon Revali praising Tulin for his bravery[30], he became ecstatic[31] despite his brush with death. He unloads his delight on an unprepared Revali, declaring his desire to be like the Champion, as well as an ambition to master the Great Eagle Bow.[32] Revali remarks that he could have lost his life at the hands of the monsters, but he is still upbeat in spite of all that.[33] before turning to Teba to express his optimism about Tulin reaching his level.[34] Teba agrees, but he adds that Tulin must surpass his own father first.[35] Tulin then provides an imitation of Revali[36], which Teba laughs at, but quickly stops himself since Revali is standing next to him, seemingly unamused and asks if that was meant to sound like him.[37] After a brief moment, the father-son bond, Tulin’s hero worship, and sense of humor thaws Revali’s heart as he starts laughing from his gut and Teba and Tulin followed suit.[38] Tulin then attempts to show off his ability, Tulin's Tornado[39], but the young Rito soon finds himself flat on his back as Teba walks over to him,[40] as Revali kindly reminds the young boy that he still has a long way to go and gives him the affectionate name of “kid”.[41]

During the secret ending of the Guardian of Remembrance DLC, Tulin is seen at the Flight Range, taking a nap on Revali’s lap and the latter stops the blanket from blowing away as Teba chuckles happily about their bonding.
