Summary: This paper considers the reliability of three components in which two units series with one direction shut off rule and one cold standby unit. Assume that all components are distributed exponentially, and the repair time has general continuous distribution. By using the supplementary variable method, Laplace transformation tools and the Laplace-Stieltjes transformation method, we study the availability, reliability and the failure frequency of this system during the interval \((0, t]\).
