Dynamical \(N\)-body equilibrium in circular dilaton gravity. (English) Zbl 1030.83020
Summary: We obtain a new exact equilibrium solution to the \(N\)-body problem in 2D gravity. It corresponds to an expanding/contracting circular spacetime with \(N\) bodies at equal proper separation from one another around the circle, providing a new class of solutions to further the study of (relativistic) one-dimensional self-gravitating systems. We discuss the relationship of this solution to the single-particle case, as well as the generalizability of our methods to other dilatonic theories of gravity.
