Quasistatic Signorini problem with Coulomb friction and coupling to adhesion. (English) Zbl 0942.74052

Wriggers, Peter (ed.) et al., New developments in contact problems. Wien: Springer. CISM Courses Lect. 384, 101-178 (1999).
From the introduction: We outline classical results obtained in contact mechanics, and present in addition some contributions to the following topics: the study of dynamic instabilities associated with friction in small or finite elastic deformations, with applications to the modelling of stress waves occurring in sliding contact or sequel phenomena involving rubber-glass contact; the development of models coupling adhesion, unilateral contact and friction, with applications to the modelling of fiber/matrix interfaces of composite materials; the modelling of frictional unilateral contact in finite plastic deformations with applications to metal forming; the development of numerical approaches in contact mechanics, using multigrid or subdomain decomposition methods or arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulations. The numerical results presented in this paper have been obtained with finite element codes Gyptis and Euxene written in the Modulef standard, and with the Simem3 code.
