Inverse problems for a string with concentrated mass at one end. (English) Zbl 0937.34010
A smooth inhomogeneous string with a concentrated mass at one end is described by a Sturm-Liouville problem with a spectral parameter both in the equation and in the boundary condition. Sufficient (close to necessary) conditions are obtained for two sets of real numbers to be spectra of such a string.
