Numerical modelling of transport processes during the drying of a granular porous medium. (English) Zbl 0613.76107

From a classical physical model which describes the movement of water and air in a granular porous medium calculations are made in order to emphasize the relative significance of the various mass fluxes. With the local equilibrium hypothesis an integration scheme is proposed to calculate the saturation, the temperature and the pressure fields in a porous medium under classical drying conditions. From these results the mass fluxes are compared and various simplifying assumptions are validated.
