Summary: Our main goal is to give an adequate method allowing the solvability of an obstacle problem considered as a free boundary problem for which, at first, according to the data of the problem, we characterize the domain of noncontact with the obstacle. Next we solve a Dirichlet problem on this domain in view of obtaining the solution of the original variational inequality.
