Finding symbolic and all numerical solutions for design optimization based on monotonicity analysis and solving polynomial systems. (English) Zbl 0863.65034

This paper solves minimization problems with constraints by using the Gröbner bases of the algebraic system. A method based on substituting and eliminating for determining Gröbner bases is also proposed and a method for finding all numerical optimal solutions is discussed. An example is given for explaining the strategy and efficiency of the method.
