From the foreword by Tudor A. Marian: This special issue of the Romanian Journal of Physics is a collection of some thirty significant contributions presented during the Buteni meeting within the large area of theoretical physics of which 18 items will be reviewed individually. Four young participants were awarded the Şerban Ţiţeica Prize.
