Fixed point indices and fixed words at infinity of selfmaps of graphs. (English) Zbl 07402613

The authors study homotopy invariants of selfmaps on graphs: the index of a fixed point class and its upper bound called characteristic. It is shown that the difference between the characteristic and the index is connected with the number of equivalence classes of attracting fixed words of the endomorphism induced on the fundamental group.
