An application of analytic functions to axisymmetric flow problems. (English) Zbl 0881.76013

Summary: A generalization of analytic functions for the solution of axisymmetric flow problems is presented. Axisymmetric flow problems are transformed to two-dimensional ones by using an integral transformation that can be then solved by the well-known methods of the theory of analytic functions. A plane problem on the flow is solved approximately by means of conformal mapping. As an example, we investigate flows around an ellipsoid, a gas bubble motion, and an axisymmetric cavitational flow.
