Process design and sensitivity analysis in metal forming. (English) Zbl 0935.74056

Summary: We discuss the optimization of design in metal forming. For this purpose, the analysis procedure is briefly reviewed and the design problem is stated. The design sensitivity is discussed for various objectives. They comprise the design and control of forming processes under quasistationary and transient conditions. Both isothermal and thermomechanical operations are considered. Elementary algorithms for the treatment of design problems are presented, and applications are discussed.
