Density and total pressure behavior in the process of forced and spontaneous reconnection. (English. Russian original) Zbl 0999.76610

Prikl. Mekh. Tekh. Fiz. 40, No. 4, 11-15 (1999); translation in J. Appl. Mech. Tech. Phys. 40, No. 4, 558-562 (1999).
In the framework of two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamics, the authors consider the details of the behavior of the density and the full pressure (the sum of the magnetic and gas-kinetic pressures) in the process of a forced (on the example of propagation of a magneto-acoustic wave in the vicinity of an \(X\)-point) and spontaneous (on the example of propagation of a Thirring mode) recombination. It is shown that the distribution of the full pressure weakly depends on the initial distribution of the gas-kinetic pressure, the voltage of the \(z\)-component of the magnetic field, and the heat conduction in a wide range of parameters. The density distribution depends only on the heat conduction coefficient.
{It seems to the reviewer that, instead of “reconnection”, the term “recombination” should be used.}.
