From the text: The Seventh international conference on the generation of combinatorial structures (GASCom) took place in Montréal (Canada) from September 2–4, 2010. It was the first time that this event, whose first edition was held in 1994, took place outside of Europe. GASCom 2010 was also the occasion for celebrating the 20th anniversary of the “Laboratoire de Combinatoire et d’Informatique Mathématique” (LaCIM). The conference reached a large international audience since sixty one papers were submitted from which forty two papers were accepted for presentation following a thorough reviewing process.
This special issue includes a selection of the best papers dealing with topics closely related to the generation of combinatorial structures and bijective combinatorics. This selection was performed with the highest rigor, and includes extended versions of some papers from the conference, based on the relevance and quality of presentation at the conference. These extended versions were significantly improved and submitted to an extra reviewing cycle according to the journal politics.
