Defining “good” and “bad” in terms of “better”. (English) Zbl 0706.03008
This paper deals with the conceptual relations between classificatory value concepts (such as ‘good’ and ‘bad’) on the one hand and comparative relations (‘is better than’) on the other. In particular, the author discusses a series of conditions for potential definitions of the classificatory concepts in terms of the (apparently “more fundamental”) preference relations.
