An effective degree epidemic model with vaccination on networks. (Chinese. English summary) Zbl 1349.92157

Summary: Epidemic modeling is a reliable approach to analyze the spreading dynamics, which can reveal the epidemiology and provide guidance for disease control. Recent developments of the complex network theory has provided a better implement for epidemic modeling, which has become a research hotspot in recent years. Here, we generalize the effective degree models proposed by previous researchers and put forward a new epidemic model with vaccination on networks, which can be called as “SV+SIS”. We use the next generation matrix approach to calculate the spreading threshold of the model, and compare it with those in SIS and SIR models. We find that the vaccination intervention can effectively reduce the basic reproductive number, which implies that vaccination is an efficient measure for preventing and controlling epidemics. The results can provide good reference for the modeling and analysis of epidemiology.
