Rheological properties of a nematic cell oriented in a planar manner. (English) Zbl 1248.82060

Phys. Lett., A 374, No. 24, 2494-2499 (2010); erratum ibid. 374, No. 28, 2900 (2010).
Summary: We propose a simple model to investigate the rheological properties of a nematic cell oriented in a planar manner. The storage and loss modulus are evaluated in the case of strong and weak anchoring conditions. The contribution of the surface viscosity to the rheological parameters is also considered.
