The ‘spite’ dilemma: spite or no spite, is there a dilemma? (English) Zbl 0994.91013

Summary: Contributions from five voluntary-contribution public-goods laboratory sessions do not converge to the conventional equilibrium at which the individually rational action for each subject coincides with the collectively rational action. Deviations are not explained by the value orientations of the participants.
