Outdoor museum

An ephemeral museum located in the Square contiguous to the Reina Sofia National Museum, totally prefabricated in plastic for two weeks, assembled on-site in just 2 days and 100% recycled 10 days after its inauguration.

The first solo exhibition of architect Balkrishna Doshi’s work outside of Asia, has opened at the Vitra Design Museum. The Indian modernist architect, who worked with Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn, won the Pritzker Prize in 2018.

These museums designed by famous Japanese architects like Kengo Kuma and Shigeru Ban are worthy of an art and architecture pilgrimage across Japan.

Marching across a city square is a parade of white podlike forms, each with a huge asymmetrical window that’s recessed and aglow. Peek through any of the windows, and a miniature art gallery of sorts is revealed. Perhaps there’s a sculpture, a photograph, or a painting in its own intimate vignette.
