"The Broken Bond" is the eighty-first chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist in the English version and the one-hundred-and-fortieth chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh! in the Japanese version.

Summary[]

Yugi and Ryuji are having a balanced match. Not standing seeing Sugoroku's grandson giving his son a hard time, Mr. Clown shows up and interferes, undoing Yugi's Millennium Puzzle right in front of him.

Ryuji rolls his 3 dice: one lands on Summon Crest, one lands on Magic Crest and one lands on Trap Crest. Since he's got no pair of Summon Crests, Ryuji fails to Summon a creature.

Yugi's Turn
Yugi rolls his 3 dice: 2 land on Movement Crest, while the other one lands on Magic Crest. Yugi uses his 2 Movement Crests to make "Black Ninja" advance 5 spaces, reaching Ryuji's Dungeon Master. Then, he uses one Attack Crest from him Crest Pool to make it attack Ryuji's Dungeon Master (Ryuji LP 2).

Ryuji's Turn
Ryuji rolls his 3 dice: all 3 land on Summon Crest. Ryuji picks a rare black die and unfolds it, Summoning "God Orgoth" (ATK 500) next to "Black Ninja"; since he rolled a Triple Crest, the Level of "God Orgoth" goes up by 1, to 4. Ryuji uses 3 Magic Crests to activate is special ability, rising its ATK to 2000. He uses an Attack Crest to attack "Black Ninja", but Yugi uses 3 Magic Crests to activate the special ability of "Black Ninja", making it invisible for 1 turn; "God Orgoth" misses the attack.

Yugi's Turn
Yugi rolls his 3 dice, but the result is not shown. He uses an Attack Crest to make "Black Ninja" attack Ryuji's Dungeon Master (Ryuji LP 1).
