Jeff Bridges ‘going through the grieving process’ after election

Jeff Bridges says he’s trying to be positive even as he’s “going through the grieving process” following former President Trump’s election win.

“I’m especially glad you’re here,” Jimmy Kimmel, a frequent critic of Trump who last week had lamented his victory, told Bridges in a Monday interview.

“I feel like you’re a very positive person. Is that accurate?” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host asked.

“I was disappointed, like you were,” the “Big Lebowski” star responded, not mentioning Trump or Vice President Harris by name.

The 74-year-old actor, a former Coast Guard member, shared the military branch’s Latin motto.

“Semper paratus — always prepared,” Bridges said.

“So as I’m sitting here now, I think, ‘How can I be prepared during these times?'” he continued.

“This is part of life. You got ups and downs, strikes and gutters. This is how we roll being alive,” Bridges told Kimmel.

“I went through the grieving process and now I’m finding, no man, be courageous. This is the time. This is calling you to be a courageous person — and not only creatively — but what can I do?” Bridges said, mentioning his work as a spokesperson for No Kid Hungry, an anti-childhood hunger organization.

“We don’t know what’s going to happen, man,” Bridges added.

“One of the things that I battled myself is certainty,” he said. “We don’t know how it’s going to turn out.”

It’s not the first time that Bridges has expressed an optimistic message after being disappointed by the election results. After supporting Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign, he said in 2017 that he was “rooting” for Trump “to do well by our country” following his win.
