English: Located in Nong Bua subdistrict, Pattana Nikhom district, the dam is considered the Thailand’s longest earth-filled dam, with 4,860 metres in length and 785 million cubic metres in capacity. It took approximately 5 years to complete, from 1994 to 1999.
The construction was under the royal initiation of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej as he recognized problems related to water shortage in the area during the dry season. Today, the dam contributes to an irrigation system as well as flood mitigation.
H.M. the King had named it “Pasak Chonlasit Dam” means “An efficient reservoir”.
