Haziqul Khairi (Urdu: حازق الخيری ) (born November 5, 1931) is an eminent Pakistani jurist who served as the 11th Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan from 2006 to 2009. Khairi also served as Judge of the Sindh High Court, provincial Ombudsman Sindh,[1][2] member of the Council of Islamic Ideology and Principal Sindh Muslim Law College (1981-88).[3][4][5]
Family and education
Khairi was born in Delhi on the November 5, 1931. Khairi is the son of late Raziq-ul-Khairi, editor ISMAT[6]and Begum Amna Nazli,[6] short story writer and grandson of late Allama Rashid-ul-Khairi, a social reformer. He is the father-in-law of prominent bureaucrat Rizwan Ahmed.[7]
He got early education at Anglo Arabic Senior Secondary School in Delhi and then later on in Karachi where he migrated with his family after independence of Pakistan. He graduated in Arts in 1954 and got Master's degree in political science and LL.B. in 1956 from Sindh Muslim College, University of Karachi.[6]
