You may ask... what is a Hussif? It is a Victorian sewing kit. My silver thimble which I use all the time, when I am sewing. Many years ago, I went to a weekend class with a group of Ladies and we all made a Hussif. We had a lovely time and this has been a useful place to keep all my sewing paraphernalia. They have little pockets for everything scissors, measuring tape, pins, needles, and thimble. All the stitching was done by hand, on cream silk and I embroidered little roses and buds on…

For my birthday I received a sewing kit from my dear friend Erika. The sewing kit was for a sewing kit, which is kind of a funny thing to say. And in actually it was labelled as an 18th Century Housewife. The kit was a collaboration between Sewstine, one of my favorite 18th Century Costumers and master embroiderers and The Lady Detalle who is also a costumer and jewelry designer.
