Business challenges

FUJIFILM Business Innovation (Fujifilm BI) conducts R&D, manufactures and sells world-class multifunction printers, production printers, and provides IT solutions as well as business process outsourcing services. The company operates in Japan, China, and across Asia Pacific.

Fujifilm BI’s previous HR environment consisted of 256 different interfaces across 53 disparate systems. By moving to a single HR platform, Fujifilm aimed to decrease complexity, boost efficiency and agility, while also providing company leaders with a unified view of employees and a consistent employee experience.

Thanks to Oracle Cloud HCM, we’ve been able to drive business priorities by giving our people personalized learning opportunities to increase their competencies, skills, and knowledge.

Why Fujifilm Business Innovation Chose Oracle

Fujifilm BI, a longtime Oracle Taleo customer, selected Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management, including Core HR and Oracle HR Help Desk, along with Talent Management for Recruiting, Performance Management, Learning, Talent Review, and Compensation and Goals Management. These solutions met the company’s need to align and transform HR systems quickly and effectively. Key reasons that Fujifilm chose Oracle Cloud HCM included fast turnaround time to go-live, scalability, data security, compliance, localization, and easy setup.

Results

Since adopting Oracle Cloud HCM, Fujifilm BI has transformed the way that HR provides services to its employees while delivering the company’s values to its customers. It improved employee experiences by providing necessary data and information to business leaders, enabling them to make quick employee-related decisions.

Oracle Cloud HCM is accessible, with real-time access to information such as data on leaves of absence, performance, compensation, and employee records. This proved especially beneficial during the pandemic, when lockdowns in certain countries required the company to pivot to new ways of working.

Oracle Cloud HCM also allows Fujifilm BI to identify employees who fit roles outside of their home countries and to share knowledge of the business among employees as they move to other countries on international assignments. Employees can assess real-time information seamlessly.

“Overall it has been a seamless transition for the company,” says Jacely Voon, chief people officer, people culture and CSR, for Fujifilm Business Innovation Singapore. “This provides the ability for HR management to make quick decisions, look into our workforce capability and competencies, share employee profiles, and seamlessly transfer resources to another country. We are building next-generation capabilities with linkage to social media and we can reach out to a large pool of candidates to help us bridge the resources needed. Technology-driven intelligence and data analytics play a critical role in the employee lifecycle, from hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.”

Because Oracle’s solution is cloud-based, it’s regularly upgraded, and information can be shared easily among countries. The system also helps reduce the risk of compliance-related issues. Purchasing upgrades and hardware maintenance is no longer necessary, thus reducing the total cost of ownership. “The more we learned about Oracle Cloud solutions, the more we realized the values and benefits versus on-premises. It provides greater scalability, efficiency, and agility more than any on-premises solutions.”

Partners

Fujifilm BI relied on Oracle Consulting for its successful implementation of Oracle Cloud HCM. “It was certainly a great partnership for a successful outcome,” says Jacely Voon, chief people officer. “Perhaps no one knows Oracle applications better than the Oracle Consulting team.”
