We got this smart plug for our Christmas lights and it works great. We have several Kasa switches in our house and have been pleased with them all. The app is very user friendly and intuitive.
This switch was extremely simple to add to the app and get set up. Most of the time with these devices they need to update the firmware on the first use, and it automatically prompts you when setting it up and takes no time at all. I like that because it makes sure on your first use the product is going to be as up to date as possible.
Both sides of the switch are independently programable via the app which makes it very handy for multiple items to get power. What is really cool is that it doesn't just have to be a set time on and off. You can choose to have the sockets activate at sunset or a set time. You can program it for different days of the week to do different things. It is extremely versatile and easy to use.
We have it hooked up under a covered area so I can't speak to its weather proofing, but given their reputation I would believe whatever the listing says about it. It is very affordable and Amazon usually has sales on Kasa devices as well. It's time to upgrade your old light timer to something like this....you won't regret it!
