New poster and trailer for the ‘RoboCop’ remake
Columbia Pictures and MGM have today released the second trailer for director Jose Padilha’s remake of RoboCop, which is based on Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 cult classic starring Peter Weller in the titular role. This time round Alex Murphy/RoboCop is played by Joel Kinnaman, alongside the likes of Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel, Aimee Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Jennifer Ehle, Jackie Earle Haley and the only actor to have appeared in the original film, Miguel Ferrer.
In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
RoboCop is set for release in the UK on February 7th and in the US on February 12th 2014.
