My First Spin Class

This weekend I took my first spin class and it was an amazing experience. For those who do not know, or think it's about cycling, spinning is taking fibers and spinning them into yarn using a spinning wheel. This was a very different experience from my normal Saturday activities or for that matter any day activity because I have never used yarn for anything ever.

I spent my Saturday morning sitting in a small room in North Nashville with 7 women who were clearly more into the activity than I was, but it was an awesome experience to observe people who were so passionate about their craft. These women immediately started talking about their projects, the things they were wearing they made, and could tell by looking at a garment more than I could tell you about the entire development process as a whole. This group of women clearly knew more about their craft than I know about any form of development and that was great to see. It was inspirational to be doing an activity that my self confidence was not tied to, I was very bad at this, but seeing people who loved the process killing it.

This experience made me see why people say get out of your comfort zone so much, you don't have to be put through hell to learn a lesson about bettering your selective craft or seeing new ways of doing things.
