Crossover Markets Raises $12M in Series A Funding Crossover Markets, a London, UK-based digital asset technology firm, raised $12M in Series A funding. The round was led by Illuminate Financial and DRW Venture Capital with participation from Flow Traders, Laser Digital, Two Sigma, Wintermute, and retail brokers such as Exness, Gate.io, GMO, Pepperstone, Trademax and Think Markets. It also announced the addition of new Board Members. Mark Beeston, Founder and Managing Partner of Illuminate Financial, will join Crossover’s board of directors along with Kevin Wolf, CFO at American Financial Exchange and former CEO of Euronext FX. The company intends to use the funds to invest in its team and technology, further strengthening its position in the market. Led by CEO Brandon Mulvihill, Crossover Markets is a digital asset trading technology firm focused on meeting liquidity requirements of institutions in the cryptocurrency markets. CROSSx, its execution only cryptocurrency Electronic Communication Network (ECN), is empowered by advanced matching engine and includes order logic that enables clients to choose with whom they want to trade. Crossover Markets recently reported over $3.15 billion (USD) in notional trading value, 415,450 trades, and over 141 billion quotes processed on CROSSx in Q1 2024. Volta Raises $4.1 Million in Seed Funding For Institutional Platform Volta has raised $4.1 million in seed funding to develop a crypto platform for institutional investors. According to a press release shared with Cryptonews.com, the funding round was led by Fika Ventures and Haven Ventures. Other participants included Soma Capital, Dispersion Capital, and Uphonest Capital. This investment aims to support the multi-signature, non-custodial platform Volta Circuit that targets enhanced speed, security, and compliance for its users. To address scalability, security, and performance, the platform stated that it would integrate smart contract wallets, incorporating direct on-chain enforcement of governance and policy controls. The architecture would provide expansion capabilities through a multi-signature wallet that facilitates authorized, single-signature transactions.

I've been running Syndicates for just under 3 years and I just had my first liquidation event!! While I can't disclose the company name, we initially invested during a private token sale (SAFT - pre-token launch), securing tokens at a significant discount compared to its ICO price. The company has been executing and driving value to its token. We decided to sell a portion of the token ~25% in order to give some liquidity back to the investors. This is a prime example of the power of token investments—providing liquidity while continuing to ride the upside. It has been only two years since we made this investment and already we were able to give the investors back their money and a significant return, while still holding onto 75% of our original position. If you were investing in traditional start-ups, outside of Web 3, you usually should expect a 7-10 year time horizon before any liquidity is given. This outcome showcases the potential for rapid returns in the crypto space, especially when investing at the early stages. This is just the beginning for Red Beard Ventures!

PUSO (Philippines): The first decentralized local currency stablecoin in Asia tracks the value of the Philippine Peso (PHP) and was announced in September. The PUSO aims to boost blockchain adoption and financial access in the Philippines, which has the 8th highest crypto adoption rate globally according to Chainalysis’ 2024 Global Crypto Adoption Index. cCOP (Colombia): The Celo Colombian Peso, which aims to launch on Mento in partnership with the Celo Colombia DAO, will target the country’s $70B in monthly crypto transactions and 600+ outlets accepting digital asset payments in Colombia. cGHS (Ghana): Together with Celo Africa DAO, Haraka and Grameen Foundation, the Celo Ghanaian Cedi will be launched on Mento in Q4 to support micro-lending and other local currency use cases.
