The owner of this Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle has done what no electric vehicle manufacturer has done so far. Something completely logical. I've always wondered why these vehicles weren't designed to use the energy that produces the spinning wheels to charge the vehicle's batteries. This man did it at home. It is a generator that produces current which charges the batteries. No need to stop to charge the batteries at the charging stations or to charge it at night at home. While the vehicle is running, it charges the batteries. Simple ... Elementary, my dear Watson.

It make sense only if this system is a 'break system', because if we push power break, we spend some energy in pushing break and loss in momentum of the vehicle is also a loss of energy for no gain. but if this loss of momentum can be converted back to electricity it will be useful but this system has to be very robust with no compromise in timing of break

It is not a permanent solution, because energy used from the battery will be greater than the energy restored. This follows the law "Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it can only be transferred".

IMHO... only regenerative braking can pump recovered energy back to the storage... Attaching an alternator to the wheels draws power from the battery to drive the wheels and put it back.... is not a good idea. This can be in fossil powered cars but engage it when you want to brake the vehicle.

That's amazing. sounds like a great concept and much like the alternator gas cars use today.

Better take the drive from gear box by making use of power take of shaft , and that drive is going to connect to the generator, it is safe design

the author of this post is into sales and marketing. so here is what I can imagine. author (to engineer) : listen mate, I just bluffed and convinced the investors that we are coming up with a car that generates energy as it moves. how you do it is your headache. engineer: facepalm..
