When we started building BetterYou, we weren't sure if what we wanted to do was even possible. Screentime for iPhone had just come out a month before and the landscape for measuring how we spend time on devices was new and largely undocumented. We built on Android first since it was more open source, and less of a black box. When you are experimenting you don't want to just see that there's smoke coming from your car, you want to be able to pop the hood and see what's going on. Google has kept the OS open-source and very transparent since day one, which is important for any of us trying to build a better mobile future. That's why I’m saddened to hear that the U.S. Department of Justice wants to break apart Google and Android. If Android moves more toward a closed system or has to increase prices, it gets even harder for small app developers to push technology forward. #Google #Android #Developers #Apps https://lnkd.in/gwbpz-ZZ

    ⭕️ Yesterday Google announced a really cool new feature: Circle to Search. On Android you'll be able to circle or highlight anything on a screen and search for it on the spot. 📲 This works on *any* app. For instance, if you are scrolling through Instagram and see an interesting place or product you could highlight it and find it immediately on Google. It's also natively multimodal: you can add text to the image search and specify that you want a red version of the glasses in the picture.     Google just announced a new feature for Google Workspace users - hand annotation directly on Google Docs! This addition to the app makes feedback much easier and more intuitive, and we imagine it will be particularly useful in creative contexts that require more expressive annotations than simple underlining or highlighting. This new feature is currently only available on Android devices however Google will likely expand this feature to other platforms soon.
