CTO of Atomic, empowering the financially vulnerable

I looked this up - on April 28th, 2016 I sent a cold Twitter DM to Ryan. I didn't expect to hear back. Here's what I said: "Hey Ryan - I was just at a Empire Fintech conference in NY talking to the BBVA folks about their Simple acquisition. They mentioned how manual and terrible the bill payment platforms are in the banking industry (such as [name removed] product), but they're forced to pay for it to retain their consumer banking customers. I did a quick search for some of the most forward thinking digital banking startups and stumbled on your company. I'd be interested to know if there is an opportunity for us to work together on what would be the bill pay experience of the future. Let me know if you'd like to schedule a call with myself and our CEO to brainstorm what that would look like. Cheers." To which he replied: "Hi Scott -- there is absolutely an opportunity -- it's an area we'd love to do something radically different than the status quo. How does next week look?" We then set a meeting time and discussed a typo in the Chime app. Chime is a top-tier company because it has top-tier people eager to do something "radically different" about banking - back in 2016, and now in 2024. Also, don't sleep on cold outreach - it just might work!

Co-Founder & CEO at Atomic Financial

Scott Weinert and I first met Chris Britt and Ryan K. around 2015. We were working on our first startup when Chime was still relatively new. I think Ryan reached out to us via Twitter or maybe Scott reached out to him. It was the beginning of what has been a great personal and professional relationship. I love seeing people like them succeed. As Lauren Kolodny said, these aren’t your typical Silicon Valley founders. They’re focused on their members, not the glitz and glamor. They’ve always been mission-centered and I’ve been able to watch them build their business from a somewhat close view, interacting with their teams on a regular basis. Huge kudos and respect to these guys! The article only shows a picture of Chris, but I know from experience that it takes so many more to create something so incredible, so I had to find a pic of the two of them at the least 😁 It’s one of those situations where they would have succeeded with or without us, but the opposite is not true. Grateful for them. Link to the exclusive on them and the Chime business from Forbes in the comments.
