Nearly on the day five years ago I get to know someone who was working his whole business life in Retail. Whole life in his case meant for 18 years. 18 years is quite a long period. What made him stay there for 18 years? That what made the company differ from others. The people. Why am I telling this? Retail is like no other branch a people business. No where else you get very early in a leadership position, managing people. You must take over responsibility. You need to enable your teams to react in the proper way to whatever is coming. The guy I am talking about in the story is me by the way… Working with people sticks with me. In between for many years. Being responsible in a HR functions is what really fulfills me in my daily business life – in wholesale, in retail and our distribution center. Thanks, ASICS EMEA for having me for 5 years now. I’m happy to work in a people centric and really purpose driven company. Highlights? Many. Boring? Never. ASICS EMEA people? Great. A time peaked by a once in a lifetime experience like visiting the Olympics in Paris 2024 and being a medalist (at least for a very short time, thanks Matt Denny OLY).
