LOL, so true! I'm not a fan of hypes. There's a 99% chance you'll lose if you just follow a hype. Yet, many founders pitch their startups like this: 'We are X for Y powered by AI.' Most of these founders come from software startups. Interestingly, hardware startup founders tend to be more concise and less likely to jump on the AI hype. In the electricity industry, using AI can be even more absurd. The data required to train AI models is often incomplete. Many startups attempt to simulate data based on indirect information from the grid environment. The truth is, electric utilities lack comprehensive data about their infrastructure. At best, they have metering systems at the substation level and smart meters on the consumer side. Based on my experience in the industry, this raw data isn't sufficient for training any meaningful AI-driven models.

Meeting its net zero target now presents a significant challenge. To many, AI is the marvel of our time and touted as the bridge to future technology. Yet, this startling revelation paints a different picture, spotlighting the carbon footprint complexities inherent in groundbreaking tech. This incident underscores the importance of balancing innovation with sustainable practices. While AI continues to revolutionize sectors, it's crucial to consider the environmental impacts and strategize how to offset them. How will businesses reconcile the growing influence of AI with their sustainability goals? Is this a red flag signalling potential regulatory interventions in the AI industry? On November 3, 2023, Vinod Khosla, a renowned venture capitalist and founder of Khosla Ventures, shared 10 predictions in the field of technology for the next decade. These predictions include bipedal robots, more efficient sources of energy, and reduced carbon emissions. While these are fantastic, some of them could take 15-25 years to finally become part of our daily life. If you want to read them all, you can search for 'Vinod Khosla 10 predictions.' One of the predictions that is a very near possibility, though, is the use of highly advanced AI agents. You could use them to complete tasks on a computer or website. Think of it as your very own 24/7 AI assistant to command. Creating digital entertainment will become easier, and the line between the ability to code or sing and imagination will blur. One of the most wonderful possibilities would be high-quality education and medical advice for millions who cannot afford or access such resources. Accessing the "AI" though would still require some hardware and infrastructure. So, making it available to the less fortunate will depend on government policy, capability, and willpower. What about the average consumer, though? Are we looking at a future where an array of capabilities would now be unlocked and democratized? I think the business model for AI we use won't be different from how we now access digital entertainment, e-commerce, and software applications. It will be subscription-based, and capabilities would vary depending on the pricing plan you choose. On the sidelines but supporting this capability are some industries that are going to experience continued growth opportunities. Companies involved in manufacturing devices to access the Internet and AI, for example. As of now, these are our phones and computers. We should also expect more devices and appliances to get connected to the internet and the cloud. As a derivative outcome, internet infrastructure and data storage will grow. AI also takes an enormous amount of energy to run, as do our devices. The energy industry, especially green energy and renewables, are sure to flourish. An AI-powered future is sure to bring about some radical changes. I've been reading about the most prominent Polish business people. Each of them has accepted and is using AI as a necessary accomplishment to their businesses. Here are a few notes about this:

Tom Loverro, an investor at IVP, declared recently the previously predicted "mass extinction event" as over and christened this time the “Great Reawakening,” encouraging companies to “pour gas” on growth, particularly around artificial intelligence. “The AI train is leaving the station & you need to be on it,” he wrote on X. Given the enormous power needs of #datacenters and the emerging #AI sector, the pouring of gas is a pretty good analogy... #netzero #netzero2050

Great post by Scott Beechuk, Bayan Alizadeh, and the great folks at Norwest Venture Partners on the promising future and potential pitfalls of autonomous AI agents in the enterprise. https://lnkd.in/gfqNTB8A From where I sit, the agentic future looks very bright. Yes, there are real-world issues, ranging from hallucinations and bad decision-making to talent gaps. But...the promise of faster, cheaper, and safer business process execution is simply impossible to ignore. It's going to be fun to watch, but I think the innovators will win the day. They are the people and companies who are creating this agent-centric future as I write this post. So buckle-up. It may be a bumpy ride for a while. But in the end, I see a world full of enterprise AI agents that perform increasingly complex tasks with a degree of accuracy and efficiency the world has never seen.
