I'm Doug Tedder. I am an independent consultant based out of Indianapolis. I think one of the things that ITIL does, is it makes the IT organization think about "What is the business that we're trying to promote?" "What are we trying to deliver?" "What is the role of IT in the delivery of those business value and business outcome kinds of things?" ITIL gives us that firm foundation and we see that ITIL, even in my experience over the last, what, 30 years now? Technology has changed dramatically over those. 30 years, but yet the very basic foundational components that we get with ITIL seem to be valid and enduring. You know, some organizations or some people take ITIL way too literally. You know, they're looking at it like it's a cookbook and that's not the right way of looking at it. But if you look at it as a way to really deliver value across the organization in a consistent, repeatable, measurable way, ITIL is a great framework to do that.
