#webSummit2024 Part 3. Surviving the 60-Second Pitch Pitching is like running a sprint while holding your breath. You get 60 seconds – that’s it. We had to distill our entire startup story into something concise, powerful, and memorable. Spoiler: it’s harder than it looks. Besides the pitch, you’ve got the “40 words” challenge. It's basically a mini intro about your startup that gets recorded on video. You’d think it’s a breeze, right? Wrong. We spent hours perfecting it – sound, lighting, English. It’s all part of WebSummit’s activation steps. The takeaway? Nail your message early. Every second and word counts. The more you practice, the smoother it gets.

That feeling when your vision comes to life... 😍 🤗 Finally, the time has come for us to bring the first edition of Pulse Check to the world...! 💁♀️ What is it? Pulse Check is a monthly newsletter, brought to you by the team behind Overnight Success, but written by 13 ecosystem leaders (who we call "correspondents"). Each month, they're writing a snappy summary of the most interesting insights from their various fields of expertise, so you can keep your 'finger on the pulse' of all corners of the Aussie startup ecosystem. 🤔 Why are we doing this? Two of the superpowers of Overnight Success are that we: 1. Curate knowledge so our readers don't have to sift through piles of articles and reports to get the information they need. 2. We're truly 'grassroots' - we actively work in the startup ecosystem and in-turn have a deep understanding of the context behind the "news". We collated this group of writers to help us supercharge both of the above and give our readers an even deeper level of knowledge. I'm super proud of the team for taking a punt on this new format and getting it done 💪 Lea, Berenice, Mia, Erin, Georgina, Gav, Dickie, Preethi, 🍇 Kirstin, Holly, 👩🏻💻 Leila, Anna, Andrew (+ 🐝 Bronte & Will!!). Many of these correspondents are not 'professional' writers and are taking this as an opportunity to improve their skills so they can offer even more value back to the ecosystem - I think that's pretty brave and I'm so happy to be able to support them with their goals. If you're not subscribed yet, you know what to do.... and if you want to check out the first edition, you know where to find it 👇 . Enjoy, and reach out with any feedback 🙏 .

Who’s active on LinkedIn on a Sunday? It’s likely not the usual corporate crowd. More often, it’s business owners, future founders, freelancers, and start-up enthusiasts—the ones for whom business never truly stops. We’re the ones with more at stake, but also with much more to gain. So, here’s to the start-ups and scale-ups: I’m looking for ambitious start-ups and scale-ups that need capital and guidance for their next growth phase. If that’s you—or if you know someone who could benefit—tag them, slide into my DMs, or email me at dan@danware.co.uk. Let’s grow with energy and purpose.
