If it’s been awhile since we talked, here’s what I was doing during my last year at Arabella: 1. Designed and launched a new function: a sales-to-service transition team. Determined the goals, roles, procedures, and cross-team communication routines. Led an 8-person team through 24 project launches representing $6M annual revenue. 2. Piloted a new functional role: capacity management lead, responsible for day-to-day staffing decisions for a team of 25 people. 3. Raised my hand to participate in the first iteration of a new org structure. As a section lead, I oversaw 10 people and their 20 client projects. Early days! Job Search Struggles and Hiring Biases: A Personal Perspective and a call for immediate help. I need a full-time job with benefits before July 1. At that point, my living situation becomes untenable. I've been unemployed since February 2023 and have completed thousands of job applications. Recently, I spent 11 weeks going through a hiring process, only to be told in the final steps that the company was passing on me due to concerns that my length of unemployment would make me 'desperate' for a job. Of course, I'm eager to return to my career after investing 20 years in my field. Being out of work for an extended period is incredibly challenging, and I've had to drive for Uber and Lyft 12 hours a day, seven days a week, to make ends meet, but it is not enough. I haven't had a day off in many months. It's disheartening to be rejected based on an assumption of desperation, especially when it's not a criterion you'll find listed in job descriptions. My situation could be viewed more positively - as a strong motivation to succeed when given an opportunity again. My unemployment length does not reflect my skills, experience, or work ethic. I am ready and willing to bring my full talents and dedication to a new role. If you are hiring or know of any opportunities that might be a good fit, please reach out. Well, I never thought I'd be writing this, but life has a funny way of throwing us curveballs when we least expect it. For the first time in my career, I've found myself on the other side of a layoff. It's been a whirlwind of emotions—one moment, you're part of a team that's more like family, and the next, you're figuring out how to navigate this new reality. 😕 Being one of three people laid off was heartbreaking, not just because of the financial stress (though that's a doozy 👎 ), or the inevitable "Where do I go from here?" questions. What hit me the hardest was saying goodbye to my incredible team. We may have been remote, but we were closer than any in-office team I've ever worked with. You don't realize how much a Slack notification can mean until it's gone. So, what has the journey been like so far? Well, let's just say job searching is no walk in the park. It's more like trying to find a needle in a haystack, in the dark, while the haystack is on fire. Job descriptions are often vague, the market is flooded with thousands of applicants, and then there's the fun of battling AI and ATS systems. My resume has seen more revisions than I can count and the rejection emails are becoming a dysfunctional norm. Daily affirmations have been in full force! But, I'm not here to mope. I'm here to reach out to my amazing network and let you know that I’m #OpenToWork. I’m searching for opportunities where I can put my skills in operations and process improvement to good use. Hi Everyone! There have been a few changes in my life lately that I wanted to share with you all. 2024 has already had it’s fair share of ups and downs but regardless, I am grateful. Work: I am currently open to finding new work as my role has been eliminated and I was unfortunately impacted by company layoffs. I am saddened that this is the outcome but I am nonetheless grateful for the opportunity to have worked for GenesisCare (a second time!). I have made lifelong friends around the globe at this company and gained experiences that I never could’ve imagined. If you know of any roles that align with my skill sets, please keep me in mind. I’d love to connect and share my resume! Life:  You may notice that I have a new last name! I got married to the love of my life in July 2023 (picture below of our elopement in Alaska). You may also notice that my location has changed and I am officially living in Anchorage, Alaska! It has been the most incredible journey becoming a military wife, growing through a long distance relationship, and now moving to the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Life has been throwing some major curveballs at me over the past 2 months, but I am blessed to have the support system that I do. As I venture into this season of looking for a new role, getting settled in a new place, and enjoying my first year of marriage, I am feeling extremely blessed for all of the doors that have opened and closed. Each one has lead me to something bigger and better.
