Building Exit Five. Next week we're in Austin: exitfive.com/austin

Drive Blog (Day 0) The Calm Before The Storm It's Sunday before the week of our first annual event for Exit Five. The event (called Drive) starts Tuesday afternoon with a Welcome Reception and then into full days Wednesday and Thursday. We sold 200 tickets for this event. We're expecting 175 will show up. B2B marketers from Australia to Chicago to Tel Aviv are coming to Burlington, VT. We put this whole event on in-house with our five person Exit Five team. The team is new and it's been a great forcing function to dig in together and figure out how we work. Onboarding and "get to know you" meetings are good, but the real team chemistry is built by doing working together and having a shared goal. Didn't have too much to do today. I did my usual morning run (my son rode his bike along with me for company). Bunch of squats and pushups and pullups. Had a nice day with the family at home with nowhere to go. Today I finished writing a batch of thank you notes to our speakers and we're dropping off a small gift at their hotel. The Exit Five team is coming in tomorrow (Monday) to start setting up and we'll have a little team dinner and our group text started tonight. It's the calm before the storm. But everyone is excited. I'm excited! You can't match the vibe of an in-person event and I'm excited we finally can have ours for our community. We'll have two days to set up. Everything from the event has been shipped to my garage. 200 t-shirts. 200 bottles of maple syrup. 200 notebooks. 200 stickers. All the signage. Then while the Exit Five team is doing the hard working setting up the event, I get to prance around town like a Thought Leader. I'm playing golf and "creating content" with Mark Huber + Ding Zheng Then I get to take a few VIPs out to lunch and spend the afternoon helping them 1:1 with their marketing. Dan sold me out. I am breaking my curfew though and we'll spend a late night Tuesday going through A/V and all that stuff. Drive week is here! I'll write about it a bunch this week. No scheduled posts from me just live blogging on LinkedIn from Drive.
