Love it or loathe it, AI is here to stay. One thing I loathe is LinkedIn surreptitiously taking our content to train their generative AI. 🤖 This overreach is a bit like 'Songs of Innocence' landing in your iTunes account. Or the ULEZ charge creeping into the wilds of Greater London and beyond. I digress. I didn't mind the album. So, if you don’t fancy being LinkedIn’s unpaid AI content training minion, go switch it off – head to settings/privacy and flick the magic toggle. Done! At least with ULEZ, you can try to dodge it. And with U2, well, deleting it from your playlist was easier than escaping LinkedIn’s data-hungry hands. #AI #LinkedIn #CreativesUnite

So… for anyone who wasn’t aware of this - as I wasn’t - you may want to read Amanda Akien’s post below. I have no problem with AI, mostly. It’s new tech. It’s scary, but it’s probably just mostly misunderstood right now (and across several design and video production software tools I’ve been blissfully using AI - partly unaware - for years)… but, Generative AI’s ability to create content may take away the most fun part of my job in years to come… or it may just make my life a whole lot easier and, dare I say it, make me more creative! But, LinkedIn is a platform for me to connect with my network, to learn from them and to share ideas with them. I want to hear from ‘THEM’, and not have my own regurgitated thoughts sent back to me. The idea that LinkedIn will use my IP to ‘help’ others create content, without asking me if it’s okay, is a big ‘no-no’ I’m afraid. You know, what with me being a content creator… 😂 Did I miss the memo from LinkedIn?
