Nature is at risk. It’s vital that we increase investments to protect and enhance the health of ecosystems. But there are barriers for companies to invest holistically in nature to protect and enhance ecosystem health. Throughout Microsoft's sustainability journey, we have learned that companies need better tools, more accessible science, and stronger incentives for corporate investments in nature to be effective. We have taken a holistic approach to our investments in nature. We’re partnering with scientists, local communities, and industry partners to remove carbon from the atmosphere, replenish water in water-stressed basins, and protect land for ecological conservation. We’re also building AI-enabled tools for measuring and improving ecosystem health, advancing the science to support evidence-based policies and standards, and helping to build markets of high-integrity nature-based solutions.    Today, we published our latest white paper discussing the opportunities and challenges of corporate investments in nature and reflecting on learnings to inform the way forward to maximize the sustainability impacts of corporate investments in nature. https://lnkd.in/diybkv4k

I had the pleasure of speaking at an Adobe leadership offsite last week with fellow leaders Marissa Rexer, David Tokheim and Rob Commons, and it was an incredible experience. Here are my top points and takeaways: 1 - Find and Solve Problems: Every business has its challenges. Identifying and addressing these problems is crucial for success. 2 - Sell Solutions, Not Products: Customers don’t buy products; they buy solutions to their problems. By helping them find these solutions, you build trust and loyalty. 3 - Build Relationship Currency (Something I learned from Carla Harris): Enjoy what you do and who you do it with, including your customers. Be a good friend and colleague. We’re all people striving to do good things. A positive attitude and genuine connections lead to great outcomes. 4 - No Bad Ideas: Leverage your team and cross-functional partners for ideation. Often, bad ideas lead to good ones, which can be more valuable than refraining from sharing thoughts altogether. Microsoft’s annual Work Trend Index report released today, with this edition offering a broad view of how AI is not only reshaping work, but the labor market overall. There’s so much in here but a big headline is we now see 75% of knowledge workers using AI at work, doubling in just six months! People are finding AI saves them time, boosts creativity, and allows them to focus on their most important tasks. Washington Labor & Industries (L&I) is among the most complex agencies in the State, with 20K transactions a day, serving 3.3M citizens. Yet they moved 400 servers and 200 applications in only 9 months with zero impact on users. The results?  By embracing Azure cloud-based infrastructure, L&I expects to reduce Total Cost of Ownership by 51%, with a 107% Return On Investment (see Azure VMware Solution Economic Analysis for L&I, March 2022). Further, L&I expects to reduce its carbon footprint by 71%. If L&I can make this much impact, this fast -- so can your organization.

AI is advancing at an incredible pace. Even those in the industry struggle to keep up with all the latest details. Which is why it is reassuring to know that organizations like Salesforce (and others) are committed to ensure AI advancements are safe ands ethical. The full article is below but here is a quick summary for you: 1. Salesforce joined the White House's voluntary AI commitments to ensure the safe, secure, and ethical use of AI technologies. 2. The company conducted 19 internal and 2 external red teaming exercises, reducing harmful outputs from AI models by 35%. 3. Salesforce published over 20 articles to educate companies and governments on ethical AI use and risk management. 4. They invested $18.9 million in a bug bounty program to enhance cybersecurity by leveraging ethical hackers. 5. Over 350 ethics reviews led to 100 safety guardrails integrated into AI products, improving trust and reducing bias.

I’m excited to share an important update for all Microsoft Teams Copilot users! We are rolling out expanded controls for managing the availability of Copilot in Teams meetings, providing greater flexibility and control for both IT administrators and meeting organizers. What’s New? • For IT Administrators: Through the Teams Admin Center, you can now set Copilot to ‘Off’ at the tenant level, for individual users, or both. This granular control ensures that Copilot aligns perfectly with your organization’s policies and needs. • For Meeting Organizers: In the meeting options, you’ll find a new control labeled “Allow Copilot” with three choices: 1. Only during the meeting 2. During and after the meeting 3. Off Selecting ‘Off’ will disable Copilot for the meeting, as well as Recording and Transcription features, giving you complete control over your meeting’s functionalities. Why This Matters: These enhanced settings empower organizations to tailor their Teams experience, ensuring that Copilot is available only when it’s most beneficial. Whether it’s for maintaining privacy, adhering to compliance standards, or simply customizing the meeting environment, these new controls offer the flexibility needed in today’s dynamic workspaces. This feature began rolling out in September and is set to enhance the way we collaborate and manage our virtual meetings. Great reminder that innovative, niche solutions can be tough to sell into big enterprise if they don't address all the other (less exciting) stuff, like security, legal assurances, and integration with the customer's existing tech stack.
