Today marked the kickoff of my classes at Menlo College, and it was a blast! My colleagues and students truly made the day unforgettable. The absolute highlight? Listening to my amazing students share their success stories, thanks to our classes together. One undergraduate in my #data_visualization course with #Tableau excitedly shared how the class paved the way for an internship at #Oracle this summer. Another student mentioned how my recommendation for her participation in the #python class helped her land a job at a startup. I felt an overwhelming sense of pride, almost like a proud mom, hearing about their achievements. This semester, I'm teaching three undergraduate courses and two graduate classes, eagerly anticipating more stories of success. Tade Oyerinde well done oba Campus, a community college startup, receives $23M Series A extension led by Founders Fund Marina Temki. Although many students in the United States enter community colleges intending to transfer to four-year universities, only 16% of those students receive bachelor’s degrees within six years. But Campus, an online alternative to traditional community colleges, has an approach that aims to change that. Many adjunct professors at the nation’s top universities, including UCLA, Princeton and NYU, earn such low salaries that a quarter of them qualify for some form of government assistance. At the same time, the cost of education has been skyrocketing. “I got obsessed with the idea of giving everybody access to these amazing professors” at a price that most students can afford, said Campus founder Tade Oyerinde. Investors seem to be obsessed, too: The company announced Tuesday that it raised a $23 million Series A extension round, led by Founders Fund, with 8VC participating. Campus has hired adjunct professors who are also currently teaching at colleges like Vanderbilt, Princeton and NYU, paying them $8,000 a course, which is much higher than the national average. The cost of attending Campus is $7,200 a year; it’s fully covered for students who qualify for federal Pell Grants, allowing about 40% of the college’s students to study for free. All students are provided with a laptop, Wi-Fi and access to tutors. They’re paired with coaches who are tasked with making sure that everyone stays on track. Enrollment has been growing fast, according to Oyerinde. Students want to be a part of something modern and new, he said, and they think of Campus as a trampoline into a four-year program. Last year, Campus raised a $29 million Series A, led by Sam Altman and Discord founder Jason Citron. Solo VC Lachy Groom, Bloomberg Beta, Founders Fund, Reach Capital and Precursor Venture also participated. Between February and August 2024, I enrolled in and was accepted into a 14-week online interactive leadership development program with the Aspire Institute. While my love for computer technology is undeniable, why care about leadership? Leadership is essential for effective problem-solving and driving change. This program reshaped my perspective on what makes great leaders. Leadership isn’t just about holding a position and making things work—it’s about owning the responsibility to make things work better. Leadership matters even in Computer Technological fields, and this is due to the fact that technological issues affect and impact us both individually and globally. Moreover, as innovation advances, there’s a need for individuals, and more importantly, leaders who can be at the forefront, driving, coordinating, and managing innovative changes to ensure continuous advancement and sustainability. Yes, some leaders may be born with certain traits, but effective leadership is developed through experiences and continuous learning. Opportunities to grow, learn, and sharpen essential leadership skills should never be taken for granted. Lest I forget, applications are officially open for the 2025 Aspire Leaders Program, cohort 1.

An Excerpt (from Cultural Shock to Core Value Award for Community) My top success criteria from my MBA experience were to maximize self-awareness and feel supremely confident of my personality by maximizing my experiences with the extremely talented community at Wharton. I am so grateful and privileged for all the learnings, experiences, and growth with my peers! Initial Experience at Wharton: 1.     Unable to eloquently speak my thoughts and expressions using the best words. 2.     Unable to manage my energy well. By evening 6pm, my energy and social battery almost drained. 3.     Emotional Balance Sheet running red mainly because of insecurity (eloquent speaking) and not being the best self (as I was back in Asia) Things done right: 1.     I actively judged people positively. Though I had a few weird experiences but that was a small price to pay to get to know many more wonderful people than I would otherwise take the chance on. 2.     I forged my social experience rather than Wharton’s overwhelming social scene happening to me. People tend to be happier if they are the one creating agency. 3.     The intellectual knowledge of how to improve ourselves often does nothing for us, so I ran several experiments to bridge the knowing-doing gap. Great Fact: We try to measure what we value, but end up valuing what we measure, and what we measure is rarely what we mean to value. I choose immeasurable rewards over measurable ones. Seeing numerical scores increase is satisfying in the short term, but the most valuable things in life — freedom, meaning, love, learning, growth, compassion — can’t be quantified. Actionable: I am huge believer of mentorship, sharing learned experiences, and accountability for driving change. In my pursuit of being available for diverse people, I will be shortly starting a mentorship or buddy initiative soon. Stay Tuned!! At last, thanks a million to the The Wharton School for conferring 1/9 student awards among 850+ peers!! You have accelerated my growth to levels which would be impossible in even 5 years of a normal professional life.

Thank you to all HR’s participating in my little resume A/B test during the Business Career Fair at John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics, and special thank you to Brett Merrell for organizing such a great event. During the event, I passed two versions of the resume to the participants (sample population of 12) and asked them to provide feedback and pick one they liked to keep. The primary differences were the formatting and amount of information. The primary target is data-related positions in financial institutions. Key Takeaways: To my surprise, I saw a 50/50 split between resumes. With government institutions (33% of responders) preferring to have as much information as possible, the private sector preferred a concise resume with room for discussion during the next phase of the interviews (50% ). Note: Surprisingly, no one commented on including the GitHub repository with code examples. To my knowledge, it would be very helpful for the hiring manager to see the coding style and previous work. Tips: Make a clear separation between the sections and outcomes within projects or experiences. Space between sections, indentation of outcomes. Keep dates next to headers or make it easy for the eye to follow. Future research: As participants stated, there is a clear personal bias as both options looked like a strong resume. I would love to hear hiring managers' feedback to compare perspectives. I've included for you the related information below.

As I look back on my MBA experience at Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business, even if I was the VP of the international cabinet of the MBAA, I wish I had access to the information we’re sharing now about green card applications. Many MBA students may not realize they already qualify for options that could significantly impact their careers. Too often, we wait to see if an employer will sponsor us, which can limit our job opportunities and hold us back from pursuing our dreams. Thrilled to announce that I was selected as a member of the Class of 2023 for the prestigious #millenniumfellowship ! 🚀 Launched by the United Nations Academic Impact and MCN, this semester-long program stands as a testament to the power of student leadership in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) both on campus and in communities. In the previous year, over 44,000 students from 3,000+ campuses in 119 nations applied, demonstrating the global enthusiasm for creating positive change. Remarkably, only 260+ campuses (9%) were selected to host the program, showcasing the caliber of applicants and the impact they were poised to make. I'm deeply honored and grateful for the recognition of my contributions, securing a spot in this esteemed program. Serving as the Campus Director, I led IGDTUW's cohort of 15 incredible fellows alongside my co-Campus Director, Rashika Gupta. As part of this program, we not only embarked on impactful projects but also set the foundation for future initiatives, representing our college on a global stage. My project, "Break the Bullies" aimed at combating bullying, provided a meaningful avenue to create awareness. Its key objective was to address the pervasive issue of bullying by creating awareness, providing resources, and empowering victims to stand resilient. Grounded in the UN SDGs, particularly focusing on Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, "Break the Bullies" sought to foster a safer and more inclusive environment through awareness campaigns and empowerment workshops.
