Antora is unlocking zero-emissions industrial energy, cheaper than fossil fuels.
About us
Antora is unlocking zero-emissions industrial energy, cheaper than fossil fuels. Antora’s thermal batteries store energy from renewables as heat for days on end, delivering that stored energy as heat and power at the scale and temperatures that large industrial operations demand. We’re on a path to eliminate gigatons of emissions while strengthening domestic manufacturing, curbing industrial air pollution, and enhancing America’s clean energy leadership. We are growing our company with people who put team and mission first, value connection through laughter and joy, and build with humility and openness. We are committed to continue building a diverse, passionate, and creative team dedicated to a future where every industrial facility, everywhere on earth, is powered by abundant, low-cost, zero-emissions energy.

The world’s biggest decarbonization challenge comes not from cars, planes, or power plants, but from heavy industries, writes Daniel McCarthy in Canary Media Inc. Under a business-as-usual scenario, industrial sectors like steel and chemical production are on pace to emit as much CO2 equivalent as the power, transportation, and building sectors combined by 2050. Historically, industry has been described as “hard-to-decarbonize,” but cleaner pathways are emerging and being deployed now, McCarthy writes. Read more: https://bit.ly/48DQJ8W

Last week, Antora’s Director of Product Management & Analytics Jordan Leventhal spoke at Trellis Group's #VERGE24 on how thermal batteries open a pathway to cost-effectively decarbonize the chemicals sector, which accounts for 6% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. RMI breaks down how thermal batteries can electrify chemical plants and how smart policies can unlock significant emission reductions in the chemicals industry: https://bit.ly/3UtFrOy

Today in Canary Media Inc., recent Antora Senior Fellow Jeffrey Rissman details five industrial decarbonization policies that will "turbocharge the U.S. manufacturing renaissance already underway, creating many thousands of high-quality jobs, securing domestic supply chains, and cutting the climate pollution that is warming the planet." 85% of the fossil fuels burned by industry are used to produce heat, and Jeff highlights policies like a clean heat production tax credit that would accelerate manufacturers' shift to clean energy. It was a fantastic privilege to present at the 2024 California Energy Commission EPIC Symposium. We discussed how thermal storage can cut carbon pollution from California industrial processes by 84 million tons while better utilizing the electric grid, reducing curtailment, and lowering the cost of getting to 100% clean energy. How? Antora Energy’s thermal storage technology uses low market value and otherwise-curtailed renewable energy to provide 24/7 industrial heat, powering California's factories with the state's abundant wind and solar generation. What’s needed? Electricity market structures that lower the cost of decarbonization for all ratepayers, including by allowing for highly flexible assets like thermal storage to use only off-peak electricity during periods of high renewable energy production.
📢 The 10th Annual EPIC Symposium starts TODAY! There’s still time to register virtually! The event is an opportunity to learn how California’s premier clean energy research fund is pioneering, deploying, & commercializing new technologies. 🙌 📅 Attend for FREE virtually! 📝 REGISTER NOW: https://bit.ly/3yCVemC 📖 Learn more about EPIC: https://bit.ly/47xiOhq The joint #EPICSymposium2024 is hosted by #CalEnergy, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, @Southern California Edison (SCE), and San Diego Gas & Electric, in partnership with the California Public Utilities Commission.
