Today is an exciting milestone for our Senior Community Outreach Coordinator II, Christopher Blauvelt, who is celebrating his 13th sober anniversary! In a recent Q&A, Chris shared that his motivation has grown beyond just improving himself. Veterans face unique challenges after returning to civilian life, including a higher risk of substance misuse. Sadly, many also confront the added burden of mental health stigmas, which can make it harder to seek the help they need. Stigma often labels individuals with a "mark of shame," creating a barrier that prevents them from pursuing support for conditions like PTSD, anxiety, or substance use disorders. At The Recovery Village, we believe in breaking down these stigmas by raising awareness, offering compassionate care, and supporting veterans on their journey to recovery.
